BRIAN
We learned
belatedly, soon after the re-formation of “The Original Mustangs” that our
original drummer Brian Corr had passed away some ten years prior due to
a heart attack. Regrettably we had lost contact with Brian after the split
up of the band back in 1966, although Lindsay played with him again soon after
that with "The Tridents" a highly acclaimed band of the period who played every
Saturday night at the popular Springvale Rock at Springvale Town Hall as well as
other venues. After trying unsuccessfully to
locate Brian for more than five years, we were approached by his brother
Denis at a gig and he informed us of the sad
news. Brian was a great drummer and a fine person.
After joining "The Mustangs" he added a new
dimension to the sound of the band. He sported a Beatles haircut before the
Beatles and took absolute pride in that head of hair.
"As a drummer he was super reliable" said
Lindsay, "and once the tempo was set it didn't alter before the end of the song.
He played drum solos in several of the Shadows tunes that we did such as
"Shadoogie" and they were aways spot on. He was a laid back, relaxed kind
of guy who was always a pleasure to be with."
